Paper vs Screen – Let’s get a little environmental
Hands up if this scenario sounds familiar to you…
You receive a hefty document or email and as your scrolling through it, your eyes almost bleed. You know you’re going to need all the help you can get to read all the information, so you send to print without a moment’s thought. Then, as your watching the printer spit out all the pages your stomach drops.
“Oh, fox! I just killed a tree.”
Well, We’ve certainly been there. With emails to read and design proofs to check we are guilty as charged for being a little too print happy.
That is why when us foxes saw this clever little video by the paper distributor Antalis, our perception of print consumption completely flipped.
Presented in the form of a cute little infographic video, Antalis is puffing its chest out and stating its case backed up by some good old-fashioned research and data.
Paper is a renewable and recyclable material that is naturally biodegradable. There are currently some pretty awesome certification schemes in place making sure paper comes from a sustainable forest source (FSC and PEFC). Having said that, waste is certainly not wanted. It does take trees and energy to make paper so please still pause and think before hitting the print button.
With a print design heart in a digital driven world, I just love how the modest little piece of paper stacks up against electronic communication.
